In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, North Star Air is set to roll onto the greens for the 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held in support of the Mikinakoos Children’s Fund, on Friday, May 24th at the picturesque Fort William Golf & Country Club in Thunder Bay, ON.

The Mikinakoos Children’s Fund is a charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Indigenous youth in Northern Ontario.

"This, now annual charity golf tournament has served as a beacon of hope for the communities we work with," remarked Colleen Martin, Chair of the Board for Mikinakoos Children’s Fund. "The funds raised enable us to sustain essential programs that promote health, food security, and overall well-being among First Nations youth."

One of the cornerstone initiatives supported by the tournament is Mikinakoos’ Backpack Program, which aims to combat food insecurity in remote communities.

Through partnerships with schools, community groups, and local leaders, the program provides nutritious meals to children and families in need. Additionally, funds raised from the event contribute to the purchase of cold weather gear, ensuring that children are adequately equipped to thrive in the harsh Northern climate.

Furthermore, the Health Living program, another beneficiary of the tournament proceeds, focuses on providing children with the tools and resources necessary for recreational activities and creative expression. From sports equipment to art supplies, these initiatives aim to foster a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop essential life skills and forge meaningful connections within their communities.

The success of this Annual Charity Golf Tournament underscores the power of collective action in effecting positive change.

As North Star Air and the organizers look ahead to future endeavors, they remain committed to their mission of empowering Indigenous youth and promoting the well-being of Northern communities.
